A former town in Adachi County in the central eastern part of Fukushima Prefecture. The central town of Obama developed as a market town, and in the past it was a producer of raw silk and silk textiles. In addition to sericulture, tobacco leaves, vegetables, and mushrooms are cultivated. The town is home to the Sugisawa Osugi (a natural monument).
