A former town in Adachi County in the central eastern part of Fukushima Prefecture. The central town of Obama developed as a market town, and in the past it was a producer of raw silk and silk textiles. In addition to sericulture, tobacco leaves, vegetables, and mushrooms are cultivated. The town is home to the Sugisawa Osugi (a natural monument). In December 2005, it was incorporated into Towa Town, Adachi Town, and Nihonmatsu City in Adachi County. 98.37 km2 . 9,514 people (2003).
