A former town in Adachi County in the central eastern part of Fukushima Prefecture. The central town of Obama developed as a market town, and in the past it was a producer of raw silk and silk textiles. In addition to sericulture, tobacco leaves, vegetables, and mushrooms are cultivated. The town is home to the Sugisawa Osugi (a natural monument). 福島県中東部，安達郡の旧町。中心の小浜は市場町として発達，古くは生糸，絹織物の産地であった。養蚕のほか葉タバコ，野菜，キノコ類の栽培が行われる。杉沢の大杉（天然記念物）がある。2005年12月安達郡東和町，安達町と二本松市へ編入。98.37km2。9514人（2003）。
