A mammal of the bovidae family in the order Artiodactyla. Classified between the Capra and Ovis genuses. Inhabits the alpine zone from the Himalayan region to Inner Mongolia. Body length 115-165cm, tail length 10-20cm, shoulder height 75-91cm, weight 25-80kg. The body is robust like a wild sheep, with thick and short limbs. Also like sheep, it has no beard and does not emit a foul odor. However, both sexes have horns, and the males' horns are large, reaching 82cm in length, and the cross section at the base is almost quadrilateral or circular, and they lack parotid glands, making them similar to goats. 偶蹄目ウシ科の哺乳類。分類的にはヤギ属Capraとヒツジ属Ovisの中間に位置する。ヒマラヤ地域から内モンゴルにかけての高山帯に分布。体長115～165cm，尾長10～20cm，肩高75～91cm，体重25～80kg。体は野生ヒツジに似てがんじょうで，四肢は太く短い。あごひげがなく，悪臭を放たない点もヒツジに似る。しかし，角は雌雄にあり，雄のは大きく長さ82cmに達し，基部の断面がほぼ四辺形か円形である点や眼下腺を欠く点などはヤギに似る。
