A former town in Nakatsugaru District, Aomori Prefecture, occupying the southwestern part of the Tsugaru Plain and Mt. Iwaki. It borders Hirosaki City and is a prolific producer of apples and rice. At the foot of Mt. Iwaki, there are hot springs such as Hyakusawa, Dake, and Yudan. Japanese parsley, garlic, and highland vegetables are also produced. In February 2006, it was incorporated into Nakatsugaru District's Soma Village and Hirosaki City. Area: 146.32 km2 . Population: 12,674 (2003). 青森県中津軽郡，津軽平野南西部と岩木山を占める旧町。弘前(ひろさき)市に接し，リンゴ，米の多産地である。岩木山麓に百沢(ひゃくさわ)，嶽(だけ)，湯段(ゆだん)などの温泉群がある。セリ，ニンニク，高冷地野菜も産する。2006年２月中津軽郡相馬村と弘前市へ編入。146.32km2。１万2674人（2003）。
