She is the younger half-sister of Emperor Nintoku, who appears in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki. The emperor proposed to Princess Metori with Prince Hayabusawake as a matchmaker, but the princess had an affair with Hayabusawake and encouraged him to overthrow Nintoku, so the two were chased by the army and killed at Soni in Uda (in the Nihon Shoki, at Komoshirono in Ise). Emperor Nintoku was also called Osazaki, and all the characters' names are related to birds. It is an outstanding story, written mainly in the form of short songs. The princess in the Kojiki is different from that in the Nihon Shoki, in that she protests to Emperor Nintoku over the treatment of her sister Yatanowakiiratsume, and is portrayed as a woman who lives an ambitious life.
