1877‐1964 French theologian and Thomistic philosopher. After studying medicine, he joined the Dominican Order and taught at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas in Rome for half a century. Through his many students and writings, he became the most famous Catholic theologian of the first half of the 20th century. In the field of philosophy, he established a system of realist and objectivist philosophy based on Thomas Aquinas, and in the field of theology, he wrote a commentary on Thomas' Summa Theologica and a work on spiritual theology.
