Also known as Kinzei (prohibition), Kinfuda (banning), or Seifu (banning sign). A sign that lists specific prohibitions and is placed on roadsides, in front of temples and shrines, or within the grounds of temples and shrines. It has been used since the Heian period, but was most commonly used from the Sengoku period to the Edo period, when some were requested by military commanders to be issued to temples, shrines, villages, and markets to protect them from military violence. Today, it mainly refers to a sign listing prohibited items within temples and shrines. → Related topics Prohibition | Order Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
