Japanese: ハバチ(葉蜂) - ハバチ（英語表記）sawfly

A general term for insects belonging to the superfamily Tenthredinoidea, the family Xyelidae, and the family Pamphiliidae in the order Hymenoptera. Along with wood wasps and hawk wasps, they are considered primitive wasps because they do not have a constriction between the thorax and abdomen. Approximately 5,000 species are known worldwide, and they are common in temperate regions. Adults appear from spring to summer, and most have one generation per year, but some appear in autumn. Many species overwinter in the pre-pupal stage inside a cocoon, but some species overwinter as eggs.

膜翅目ハバチ上科Tenthredinoidea，ナギナタハバチ科Xyelidae，ヒラタハバチ科Pamphiliidaeに属する昆虫の総称。キバチ類やクキバチ類のハチとともに，胸部と腹部の間がくびれておらず，原始的なハチと見られている。全世界に約5000種知られており，温帯域に多い。成虫は春から夏にかけて出現し，年1世代のものが多いが，秋に出現するものもある。多くの種類は，繭の中で前蛹態（ぜんようたい）で越冬するが，卵越冬の種類もある。
