A pond located at the western foot of Mt. Amanokagu in Yamato. In the Man'yoshu, an elegy composed by Kakinomoto no Hitomaro on the death of Prince Takeichi mentions the bank of the pond of Haniyasu, and the song of the well of Fujiwara Palace also mentions the bank of Haniyasu. According to the legends found in the Jinmu and Sujin Chronicles, in ancient times, there was a notion that the clay clay of Mt. Amanokagu was regarded as the "material substance of Wakoku" (a symbol of rule over Yamato). Uneonimasu Takehaniyasu Shrine (a shrine listed in the Engishiki) is a shrine that worships the clay clay of Mt. Amanokagu as a male deity, and is located at the western foot of Mt. Amanokagu (Kinomoto-cho, Kashihara City). Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
