A former town in Mino County, western Shimane Prefecture. Most of the area is forest, and it once produced charcoal, paper mulberry, and mitsumata. It also produces rice, shiitake mushrooms, and yuzu. There are factories producing sewing, food, and low-level electrical appliances. The Tsumo copper and zinc mine closed.
