Takasaki [town] - Takasaki
A former town in Kitamorokata County in the southwest of Miyazaki Prefecture. It occupies the northwest part of the Miyakonojo Basin. Livestock and dairy farming, including chicken farming, pig farming, and dairy and beef cattle farming, is thriving. Vegetables and tobacco are also produced. The Kitto Line runs through the town. In January 2006, it was incorporated into Miyakonojo City along with Yamada Town, Takajo Town, and Yamanokuchi Town of Kitamorokata County. Area: 93.19 km2 . Population: 11,575 (2003).
