Banach space

A set B is called a Banach space if it satisfies the following three conditions: (1) Set B is a vector space over the real or complex numbers. (2) For each element x of set B , its norm ∥x∥ is defined. (3) For two elements x and y of set B , if the distance between x and y is defined as ∥x - y∥ , then set B is a complete metric space with respect to this distance. Initially, Hilbert spaces were discussed as function spaces, and it was thought that the discussion could be applied to more general function spaces as well.
