Japanese: 直入[町] - なおいり

A former town in Naoiri District, southwestern Oita Prefecture. Occupying the upper reaches of the Seri River, a tributary of the Oita River, rice farming is popular in the valley plains and beef cattle raising is popular in the fields at the foot of the mountains. Spinach and other vegetables are also cultivated. Shiitake mushrooms are a specialty of the town. Nagayu, the main settlement on the riverside, is a hot spring town with Nagayu Onsen. Serigawa Dam is located here. In April 2005, it was incorporated into Ogimachi, Kusumimachi, and Taketa City in Naoiri District. 83.83 ^km2 . 2,905 people (2003).

大分県南西部，直入郡の旧町。大分川の支流芹川(せりかわ)上流域を占め，谷底平野では米作，山麓の原野では肉牛の飼育が盛ん。ホウレンソウなどの野菜栽培も盛ん。シイタケを特産する。河畔にある主集落長湯は長湯温泉の温泉町。芹川ダムがある。2005年４月直入郡荻町，久住町と竹田市へ編入。83.83km²。2905人（2003）。
