Hathor - Hathor (English spelling)

Japanese: ハトホル - はとほる(英語表記)Hathor
Hathor - Hathor (English spelling)

An ancient Egyptian goddess. Her original name Het-Hel means "the dwelling place of Heru (Horus in Greek)," meaning she was the goddess of the sky, and also the goddess of love and beauty as the mother of the sun god Horus. In this respect, she is similar to the Greek Aphrodite and the Roman Venus, and was widely revered by the people. She is said to have seven forms, but is often depicted as a cow, and is also shown in hieroglyphs depicting the god Horus in the form of a hawk within a square representing the "dwelling place." The centers of her worship were Dendera and Aphroditopolis, and she was also the protector goddess of the Theban necropolis (city of the dead). Her Greek name is Athur.
