Pollution caused by automobiles traveling on roads. Namely, noise, vibration, and air pollution are the main causes, and low-frequency pollution, particularly noticeable on elevated roads, radio interference, obstruction of ventilation, obstruction of sunlight, destruction of scenery, destruction of local communities due to division of neighborhoods, and psychological devastation caused among residents due to the above, as well as construction pollution such as noise and vibration during the road construction stage, are all collectively referred to as road pollution, a wide range of damage suffered by residents living along roads in a motorized society.

道路を自動車が走行することによって発生する公害。すなわち騒音，振動，大気汚染を主たる内容とし，とくに高架道路に顕著に現れる低周波公害，電波障害，通風妨害，日照妨害，景観破壊，地域分断による地域社会破壊および以上のものを原因として住民の中に起こる精神的荒廃現象，さらに道路施工段階における騒音，振動などの建設公害など，モータリゼーション社会において自動車道路によって沿道住民が被るさまざまな被害を総称して道路公害という。
