Ukimikuri - Ukimikuri

A perennial plant of the family Typhaceae (APG classification: Typhaceae). The stem is soft and 30-40 cm long, the leaves are ribbon-like and 2-2.5 mm wide, 40-50 cm long, and the inflorescence is 10-15 cm long, all of which float on water. The flowers are water-borne. The flowering season is July-August. It grows in shallow ponds and rivers and is widely distributed in the cold zone of Eurasia, but in Japan it is only known in the high mountains of central Honshu and the mountains of Hokkaido.

ミクリ科（APG分類：ガマ科）の多年草。茎は柔らかく長さ30～40センチメートル、葉はリボン状で幅2～2.5ミリメートル、長さ40～50センチメートルに及び、花序は10～15センチメートル、いずれも水に浮かぶ。花は水媒。花期は7～8月。浅い池沼や川に生え、ユーラシアの寒帯に広く分布するが、日本では本州中部の高山と北海道の山地に知られるにすぎない。
