1344‐98 A minor Anatolian prince and poet. He served as qadi (judge) and vizier (victim) of the Eretna principality (1335-81), which succeeded the Ilkhanate in power, and then usurped it (1381), ruling the area from Kayseri to the Black Sea with its capital at Sivas. He blocked repeated eastern advances by the Ottoman Empire and also opposed the Ak Koyunlu dynasty and the Mamluk dynasty to the east. He was killed after failing to put down a rebellion by Turkmen nomads, and his remaining territories were annexed by the Ottoman Empire.
