Japanese: 採桑老 - さいそうろう

[1] A piece of gagaku music. It belongs to the Saho (left) style and is the name of a piece in the Bankaki style. It is a solo dance in which the performer wears a mask of an old man, a white robe and a hat , a bamboo leaf stuck in the back of the hat, and leans on a cuckoo stick , dancing as if he is having difficulty walking. [1] 雅楽曲の一つ。左方(さほう)に属し、盤渉(ばんしき)調の曲名。一人舞で、老翁の面を着け、白色の袍(ほう)を着て帽子をかぶり、帽子のうしろに笹の葉をさし、鳩杖(はとづえ)をついて、歩行に苦しむさまをして舞うもの。伝承されてはいるが、ほとんど演じられなくなった。採桑子。さいしょうろう。[2] 〘名〙植物「はないかだ（花筏）」の異名。〔大和本草批正（1810頃）〕
