Octans (English spelling)

Japanese: はちぶんぎ座(八分儀座) - はちぶんぎざ（英語表記）Octans

The abbreviation is Oct. A minor constellation that includes the "South Celestial Pole." It is a new constellation established by French astronomer NL Lacaille, and commemorates the octant invented by British mathematician J. Hadley. It has no bright stars. Its approximate position is 21h0m in right ascension and -87° in declination. It reaches its highest point in the sky at 8pm in early October, but is not visible from Japan. [Ishida Goro]
