The original story was Ooka Seidan: Suzuki Genjuro no Maki by Hayashi Fubo, and three companies competed to adapt it into a film, so three different Tange Sazens appeared at the same time: Okochi Denjiro in the Nikkatsu version, Dan Tokumaro in the Toa Kinema version, and Arashi Chozaburo (later Arashi Kanjuro) in the Makino version.
