〘Noun〙 Horizontal strokes that make up the hexagrams of the Book of Changes . There are two types, yang lines and yin lines, which are combined to form a hexagram. The Eight Hexagrams are made up of three lines, and the Sixty-Four Hexagrams are made up of a combination of six lines. Counting from bottom to top, the six lines are called the first line, second line, third line, fourth line, fifth line, and top line. ※Shoku Nihongi - Chronicles of Japan, Year 1 of Lingki (715), August Dingchou "Present two Lingki , one abbreviated: along with two separate hexagrams, one at the front and two one-line hexagrams at the rear." ※Shiji Sho (1477), Volume 8 "Alas, when I found this line in my divination, did I discuss it in conjunction with this passage?"
