…He served as editor of the Rheinische Zeitung from autumn 1842 to March of the following year, and from his experiences there he felt the need to study socio-economic issues and socialist ideas. In the summer of 1843 he married Jenny von Westphalen (1814-81), the daughter of a Baron de Westphalen, with whom he had a family relationship. In the autumn of the same year he went to Paris and founded the Deutsch-Französischer Jahrbücher with A. Ruge, but the project failed, and he made a living from writing. In 1846 he began to organize the revolutionary movement, and with F. Engels and others, he established the Communist (International) Correspondence Committee, based in Brussels, where he was living at the time, and became its central figure. …
