Japanese: 迫[町] - はさま

An old town in Tome District, northern Miyagi Prefecture. It occupies the lowlands of the Hasaka River basin and is a rice paddy area. Sanuma, in the center, was an old castle town. It is home to the ruins of Shikagajo Castle, a famous cherry blossom viewing spot, and Izunuma and Uchinuma are habitats for swans and other birds (natural monuments and Ramsar sites). In April 2005, it merged with Tome Town, Towa Town, Nakata Town, Toyosato Town, Yoneyama Town, Ishigoe Town, and Minamikata Town in Tome District, and Tsuyama Town in Motoyoshi District, to become a city, Tome City. 70.27 ^km2 . Population 22,646 (2003).

宮城県北部，登米(とめ)郡の旧町。迫川流域低地を占め，水田地帯をなす。中心の佐沼は旧城下町。桜の名所鹿ヶ城跡があり，伊豆沼・内沼はハクチョウなど鳥類生息地（天然記念物，ラムサール）。2005年４月登米郡登米町，東和町，中田町，豊里町，米山町，石越町，南方町，本吉郡津山町と合併し市制，登米市となる。70.27km²。２万2646人（2003）。
