A portable home of nomadic peoples, such as the Mongolians and Kyrgyz, who live on the steppes of Central and Northern Asia. Yurt is the Chinese word for yurt, and in Mongolia it is called ger. A cylindrical wall is made of willow or non-elm, and a conical ceiling that can be opened and closed like an umbrella is placed on top, and the whole is covered with felt. It is usually a circle with a height of 4 to 5 meters and a diameter of 5 to 6 meters. The yurts of Turkish nomads have a similar structure, but the ceiling is dome-shaped. →Related topic Tents | Mongolia Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
