...c. 753-973. The Chalukya dynasty, which occupied Sindh in the 8th century and prevented the Arabs from moving further south, was overthrown by one of its vassals, Dantidurga, and the Rashtrakuta dynasty was founded in its place with Nasik as its capital. The dynasty continued to rule for a relatively long time, with 14 generations until 973, in the Deccan region, which was divided into small kingdoms.
