〘Noun〙 Ancient gray-colored pottery scattered around the country. It is said to have been created by Gyoki during the Tenpyo period ( 729-749 ), but there is no basis for this. It has been used as a common name for suemono (pottery) in contrast to hamono (earthenware). ※Haiku, Zoku Meigaru (1776), Summer "Through the ages, Gyoki ware with a strange shape (Kasumito) A woman with a taste for things, you look bright (Kitou)" Source: The Selected Edition of the Japanese Language Dictionary About the Selected Edition of the Japanese Language Dictionary Information |
