Born: June 21, 1850 in Rome
[Died] November 13, 1928. Milan Italian dancer and dance teacher. He made his debut in 1870 at La Scala in Milan, dancing "Barbara's Reformation", and toured Europe. In 1892, he became a teacher at the Imperial Dance School in St. Petersburg, where he trained many excellent Russian dancers. He was the founder of the Cecchetti Ballet Method, and he trained five positions strictly and taught seven types of movement in a systematic way. A. Pavlova, O. Preobrazhenska, M. Kschessinska, T. Karsavina, V. Nijinsky, and others studied under him. In 1918, he opened a school in London, which produced L. Massine, A. Bolm, A. Dolin, and S. Lifar. Since 1922, Cecchetti Societies have been established in the United States and the United Kingdom to promote the Cecchetti Method. As a dancer, she is famous for being the premiere performer of the dual roles of Carabosse and the Blue Bird in "Sleeping Beauty."

イタリアの舞踊家，舞踊教師。 1870年『バルバラの神』を踊ってミラノのスカラ座でデビューし，ヨーロッパを巡演したのち，92年ペテルブルグの帝室舞踊学校の教師となり，数々のすぐれたロシアの舞踊家を養成。チェケッティ・バレエ・メソッドの創始者であり，5つのポジションを厳格に訓練し，動きを7種類に分けて系統的に教えた。 A.パブロワ，O.プレオブラジェンスカ，M.クシェシンスカ，T.カルサビナ，V.ニジンスキーらが彼のもとで学んだ。さらに 1918年ロンドンに学校を開き，L.マシーン，A.ボルム，A.ドーリン，S.リファールらを輩出した。 22年以後，チェケッティ・メソッドの普及のためにアメリカ，イギリスにチェケッティ・ソサエティなどが設立されている。踊り手としては『眠れる森の美女』のカラボスと青い鳥の2役を演じた初演者として有名。
