…[Inaba Nobumichi] During the Edo period, it was first the domain of the Takasu clan, then the Shogunate, and from 1633 (Kan'ei 10) it became the domain of the Ogaki clan. During the Battle of Sekigahara, Tokugawa Ieyasu set up his headquarters in Okayama against the Western forces at Ogaki Castle, and it is said that the name was changed to Okachiyama in honor of that victory, and there are many gravestones there for memorial services. It became a post station on the Nakasendo road, and in 1605 (Keicho 10) the Ochaya Yashiki, a lodging facility for the Shogun, was established there. …
