Septic tank - Septic tank

A device that purifies wastewater such as sewage and domestic wastewater through biological treatment using microorganisms. In areas where sewer systems and community plants are not in place, wastewater from businesses and residents must be purified before being discharged into public waters such as rivers. A septic tank consists of a septic tank, an oxidation tank, and a disinfection tank. Primary treatment takes place in the septic tank, and the effluent undergoes secondary treatment in the oxidation tank. Wastewater tanks come in a variety of configurations, including multi-chamber and two-story tanks, and are used to remove precipitated suspended solids. Secondary treatment, flat oxidation, removes non-settled suspended solids and colloidal substances, as well as odorous components such as hydrogen sulfide and ammonia. Finally, the sludge is settled in the settling chamber, and the supernatant is disinfected in the disinfection tank before being discharged.

し尿や生活雑排水などの汚水を，微生物などの生物処理により浄化する装置．下水道やコミュニティ・プラントが整備されていない地域では，事業所や住民からの排水を，浄化して河川などの公共水域に放流しなければならない．浄化槽は，腐敗槽，酸化槽，消毒槽からなり，腐敗タンク内で一次処理を行い，その流出液を酸化槽で二次処理する．廃液タンクの構造には，多室型，二階タンクなどがあり，沈殿性浮遊物質を除去する．二次処理の平面酸化によって，非沈殿性浮遊物質やコロイド性物質の除去と，硫化水素，アンモニアなどの悪臭成分を除去する．最後に，沈殿室で汚泥を沈殿させ，上澄みを消毒槽で消毒したのち放流する．
