Old World monkeys

Japanese: 旧世界ザル - きゅうせかいざる（英語表記）Old‐World monkeys

Refers to monkeys that live in the Old World continents of Africa and Asia. They are classified in the primate order Cercopithecidae, a family of monkeys that is further divided into two subfamilies: Cercopithecinae and Colobinae. The former includes macaques, mangabeys, baboons, and guenons, while the latter includes colobus monkeys and langurs. Old World monkeys, along with New World monkeys and the superfamily Hominoidea, are one of the pillars that make up the anthropoid order.

アフリカ，アジアの旧大陸に生息するサル類を指す。これらは霊長目オナガザル科Cercopithecidaeに分類され，さらにオナガザル亜科Cercopithecinae，コロブス亜科Colobinaeに二大別される。前者にはマカック類，マンガベイ類，ヒヒ類，グエノン類などが，後者にはコロブスモンキー類，ラングール類などが含まれる。旧世界ザルは新世界ザル，ヒト上科とともに真猿類を構成する一つの柱である。
