European Economic Community. An organization for regional economic integration formed in 1958 by the six member countries of the ECSC (European Coal and Steel Community). It stipulates the abolition of tariffs within the region, the establishment of a common tariff for countries outside the region, and the free movement of capital and labor. European Common Market.
