A town in Abashiri County, eastern Hokkaido. On the Sekihoku Main Line. The lowlands near the confluence of the Abashiri River and the Bihoro River produce potatoes, wheat, and onions, and there is a sugar refinery and an agricultural processing plant. It is a tourist base on the Kitami side of Akan National Park, which is reached via the Bihoro Pass. Area: 438.41 km2 . Population: 21,575 (2010). 北海道東部，網走郡の町。石北本線が通じる。網走川と美幌川の合流点付近の低地ではジャガイモ，小麦，タマネギを産し，製糖工場，農産加工場がある。美幌峠を経て阿寒国立公園に入る北見側の観光基地。438.41km2。２万1575人（2010）。
