Wucheng County

…While the east side of Lake Taihu was the main route connecting Wu and Yue, the south side of Lake Taihu was a route connecting Zhejiang and southeastern Anhui, and it was also easy to cross Lake Taihu to reach Suzhou, so it was a key point for controlling Wu and Yue from a different position than Jiaxing. Wucheng County was established in Qin, became Wuxing County in the Three Kingdoms Wu, and became Huzhou in Sui, but its affiliation changed between Suzhou and Hangzhou. Guian County was established at the beginning of the Northern Song Dynasty, and in 1912 the two counties were merged to form Wuxing County. …
