〘 noun 〙 A horse-drawn carriage in which many people ride together. It usually ran on a fixed route for a fixed fare. In Tokyo, stagecoaches began in 1872 ( Meiji 5), and the groom blew a trumpet to warn pedestrians. They were also called Entaro carriages. After the horse-drawn railway carriages began in the same year, they gradually declined.
