Honzaka Pass

A pass located in northwest Shizuoka Prefecture, between the Mikkabicho area of Kita-ku, Hamamatsu City and Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture. It is 380 meters above sea level. It is one of the passes that cross the Kosai mountain range and has been used since ancient times, but in the early modern period, Honzaka-dori (Hime-kaido), a side road of the Tokaido, passed through Honzaka Pass and went along the north shore of Lake Hamana. The remains of a teahouse and stone paving at the pass remain. National Route 362 runs through it, and the Honzaka Tunnel was completed in 1978 (Showa 53).
