Noboriryu - Noboriryu

Japanese: ノボリリュウ - のぼりりゅう

This refers to a mushroom of the Ascocyst fungus family, Discomycetes, Order Chamaecyparis, and Family Helvellaceae, which is shaped like a saddle on the end of a long stalk. The saddle-shaped head is attached to both sides of the upper part of the stem, which is the stalk, and countless spores are formed on its surface. The part where the spores are produced is called the sporangium, and the ascus grows densely in a row. The true Helvella crispa Fr. has vertical folds in the cylindrical stalk, the lower edge of the saddle is separated from the stalk, and the whole mushroom is white. The black-stalked H. lacunosa Afz.ex Fr. (illustration) is similar, but is entirely black with part of the lower edge of the saddle attached to the stalk.

長い柄の先に鞍（くら）をのせたような形をしている子囊菌類の盤菌類チャワンタケ目ノボリリュウ科のキノコをさす。鞍形の頭部は柄である茎の上部を両側から挟む形でついており，その表面に胞子が無数に形成される。胞子ができる部分を子実層といい，子囊が並んで密生している。真正のノボリリュウHelvella crispa Fr.は，円柱状の柄の部分に縦ひだがあり，鞍の下縁が柄から離れ，全体が白い。これに似て，全体が黒く，鞍の下縁が一部，柄に付着しているのがクロノボリリュウH.lacunosa Afz.ex Fr.（イラスト）である。
