A town in the northern part of the Tsugaru Peninsula, Higashitsugaru District, Aomori Prefecture. Facing the Tsugaru Straits. Ornamental chrysanthemum cultivation is a major agricultural activity. Fishing, including scallop farming, and livestock farming are also carried out. The town sustained damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. The Kaikyo Line ran through the town and Tsugaru Imabetsu Station was located there, but with the opening of the Hokkaido Shinkansen in March 2016, it was remodeled to Okutsugaru Imabetsu Station, creating a new Shinkansen stop in the town. 青森県東津軽郡,津軽半島北部の町。津軽海峡に面する。農業では観賞菊づくりが盛ん。ホタテの養殖などの漁業,畜産業も行う。東日本大震災で,町内において被害が発生。海峡線が通じ津軽今別駅があったが,2016年3月の北海道新幹線開業に伴って改築が行われ〈奥津軽いまべつ駅〉となり,町内に新たな新幹線停車駅が誕生している。125.27km2。3217人(2010)。
