In order to grasp the price level in rural areas, this index is calculated using the Laspeyres method using 106 agricultural product items, 139 agricultural production materials, and 270 daily necessities items. There are three types of index: Agricultural Product Price Index, Agricultural Production Materials Price Index, and Daily Necessities Price Index. The latter two are combined to become the Farm Purchase Price Index. By clarifying the price trends of what farmers sell and buy in this way, it is possible to investigate the scissors-shaped price difference in the farm economy.

農村における物価水準を把握するため，農産物 106品目，農業生産資材 139品目，および生活資材 270品目を採用し，ラスパイレス方式で算出した指数のこと。指数には，農産物価格指数，農業生産資材価格指数，生活資材価格指数の3種類があり，後者の2つを統合したものを農家購入品価格指数という。このように農家の売るものと買うものの価格動向を明らかにすることによって，農家経済における物価の鋏状 (きょうじょう) 価格差を調査することができる。
