Mud Tower
〘Noun〙 Buddhist term. A mud tower built to pray for the eradication of sins and long life. It is common to pour perfumed clay into a mold to create a Gorinto or a three-story pagoda, and place the seed Aji of Dainichi Nyorai under the tower. This is practiced in the Shingon and Tendai sects of esoteric Buddhism. *Kanchi-in Hon Sanbo-e (984), bottom, "Explaining the need to build a mud tower"
