A rift plain between the Osado Mountains and the Kosado Mountains on Sado Island (Sado City) in Niigata Prefecture. It is 8 kilometers wide, 12 kilometers long, and 150 square kilometers in area. Its peak is the alluvial plateau on the shores of Lake Kamo on the shores of Ryotsu Bay, and it slopes gently to the southwest. The Kokufu River fills in the center, making it the rice-producing region of Sado. Settlements are lined up on the alluvial plateau at the foot of the two mountains, and the two main transportation routes are the Osado Route and the Kosado Route. Old exile cultural sites such as Mano Shrine, which enshrines Emperor Juntoku, and Konpon Temple at the Nichiren ruins are located along the Kosado Route. The area is centered around the former Ryotsu City area in the northeast and the former Sawada Town area in the southeast.
