Agricultural season - Noujikisetsu

A general term for agricultural work that changes with the seasons. An agricultural calendar is a record of agricultural seasons, such as tilling, land preparation, nursery beds, sowing, plowing, hilling, weeding, top dressing, and harvesting, which are carried out in a nearly fixed manner every year. In addition to the agricultural seasons, seasonal notes related to pests, disease, drought, cold damage, floods, and other disasters are also important.

季節の移り変わりに伴われた農事の総称。毎年ほとんど決まった形で行われる耕うん、整地、苗代、播種(はしゅ)、中耕、土寄せ、除草、追肥、収穫などの農事季節を一つの標準として書き込んだものが農事暦である。農事季節にはこのほか病虫害、干魃(かんばつ)、冷害、水害などの災害に関連した季節的備考も重要である。
