Japanese: ノアの箱舟(ノアの方舟) - ノアのはこぶね（英語表記）Noah’s Ark

According to Genesis chapters 6-8 in the Old Testament, God commanded Noah to build an ark to save Noah and his family from the great flood that would come because of the fall of the first human race. This was called Noah's Ark, and the character for "ark" is also used. It was a wooden, square boat with a three-story structure measuring about 135m in length, 23m in width, and 14m in height, with a doorway on the side and a skylight about 50cm below the top, and the outside was waterproofed with asphalt. God commanded that in addition to food, two males and two females of birds and other living creatures (or seven clean animals and two unclean animals) be placed in the ark.

旧約聖書《創世記》6～8章によれば，最初の人類の堕落のゆえに下される大洪水の難からノア一家を逃がすために，神は箱舟の製作をノアに命じた。これを〈ノアの箱舟〉といい，方舟の字も当てる。それは木造，方形の舟で，長さは約135m，幅は約23m，高さは約14mの三層構造で，横に戸口，上から約50cm下に天窓1個があり，外側はアスファルトで防水された。神はこの箱舟に食料のほか，鳥獣などの生物を雌雄各2匹(もしくは潔い動物各7匹に汚れた動物各2匹)を入れることを命じた。
