[raw]? [Died] August 1, 1098. Bishop of Le Puy (→ Le Puy-en-Blay), France. Alternative spellings: Adémar, Aimar. Became bishop in 1077. Commanded the First Crusade as an emissary of Pope Urban II and occupied Antioch. Tried to cooperate with the Byzantine emperor (→ Byzantine Empire) and the Greek Orthodox Church (Eastern Orthodox Church), but died of illness there.
