1865‐1950 Austrian-born historian. Known as the "Herodotus of Anarchism." He first studied Celtic grammar in London and joined the Socialist League. After 1890, he began writing the history of anarchism, writing three volumes of "A Life of Bakunin" (1896-1900), "A Life of Malatesta" (1921), and three volumes of "A History of Anarchism" (1925-31). After World War I, he lived in Vienna and was active in the syndicalist German Free Workers' Union.
