In 1864 (Genji 1), the imported Chinese Tenji circus (American Risley Circus) performed in Yokohama, and in the Meiji era, the acrobatic acrobatics of the French Soulier and Italian Chaline troupes, such as "one horse with three people," "two horses with three people," and "jumping through a ring of fire," caused the decline of traditional Japanese equestrianism. This Western-style acrobatics continued to be the main attraction in newly organized Japanese circuses, but disappeared in 1967, and now there is a movement for a revival. ...
