A dictatorial ruler in China during the middle and late Yuan dynasty. Born to a family that was the commander of the Kipchak Imperial Guard. His grandfather Toktoha (Tu Tu Ha) and father Chongul (Tu Chu Er) had made distinguished contributions in the war against Haidu and in Emperor Wuzong's accession to the throne, helping him rise to power with the help of the army under his command. When Emperor Taiding died in Shangdu in 1328, he started a rebellion in Dadu, and after about three months of civil war, he seized power. After that, he supported Emperors Mingzong, Wenzong, Ningzong, and Shun, all of whom were descended from Emperor Wuzong, and wielded power by suppressing the royal family and aristocracy, but after his death, his influence was wiped out.
