Neoregelia - Neoregelia

Japanese: ネオレゲリア - ねおれげりあ
Neoregelia - Neoregelia
A member of the pineapple family, there are about 40 species in the tropical rainforests of eastern Brazil, most of which are epiphytes. The bases of the leaves are folded over each other to form shallow tubes that store water. The inflorescences are submerged in the water, and when they bloom, only the flowers often emerge above the water surface. The leaf edges have small but hard thorns. Neoregelia carolinae (Velt.) LBSm. has thin, brownish green leaves that are inconspicuous, but when it blooms, the broad tubes at the base of the leaves turn red, making it beautiful for a long period of time.
