A traveler from Andalusia. Born in Valencia and died in Alexandria. He learned Islamic and Arabic studies from his father and the ulama of the time, and excelled in poetry and prose. He made three pilgrimages to Mecca, and wrote a beautiful diary-like account of his first pilgrimage. He left Granada in 1183, traveled by sea to Alexandria, then crossed the Red Sea from Upper Egypt to Mecca. He then traveled from Baghdad to Damascus and Acca, traveled from there to Sicily, and returned to Granada about two years and three months later in 85.

アンダルスの旅行家。バレンシアに生まれ，アレクサンドリアで没した。父および当時のウラマーよりイスラム諸学とアラビア語諸学を学び，詩文･散文に秀でる。メッカには3回巡礼したが，第1回目の巡礼旅行記を美文体で日記風に記録した。1183年にグラナダを出発し，海路でアレクサンドリアに至った後，上エジプトから紅海を渡り，メッカに巡礼した。次いでバグダードからダマスクス，アッカに至り，ここからシチリアに渡り，85年約2年3ヵ月後にグラナダに戻った。
