This large 10-volume work was completed in 1787 (Tenmei 7) by Join, the head priest of Genpukuji Temple in Asamai Village, Hiraka County, Dewa Province, recording the natural environment, climate, and lifestyles of the Akita region based on many years of observation. Although it was not widely known, it is unique in its economic and agricultural theories developed from a Buddhist worldview, and shows a unique rationality in particular in its discovery of the periodicity of normal and abnormal weather and the selection of rice varieties adapted to it.
