A descendant of Oshu Kanrei Hatakeyama Kuniuji, and the son of Nihonmatsu (Hatayama) Yoshikuni. Ukyo no Daifu. As the lord of Nihonmatsu Castle in Adachi County, Mutsu Province, he was constantly in tension with the Date clan on the northern border. He served under the Date clan, and in 1582, he participated in Date Terumune's attack on Soma with Ouchi Sadatsuna, who was related by marriage and the lord of Shiomatsu Castle. Later, together with Sadatsuna, he sided with the combined forces of the Satake and Ashina clans, and came into conflict with the Date clan. In 1581, when Sadatsuna fled from Obama Castle in defeat, Yoshitsugu offered to surrender on conditions, but Masamune would not accept it, and in October Yoshitsugu submitted to this and visited Miyamori Castle to express his gratitude to Terumune, who had mediated his submission. On his way back, he kidnapped Terumune, and was shot by Date forces on the banks of the Abukuma River, dying together with Terumune. He was 33 years old when he died. 没年:天正13(1585) 生年:天文22(1553) 戦国末の武将。奥州管領畠山国氏の子孫で,二本松(畠山)義国の子。右京大夫。陸奥国安達郡二本松城主として北境の伊達氏との緊張に終始。伊達氏の麾下に属し,天正10(1582)年伊達輝宗の相馬攻めには姻戚関係の塩松城主大内定綱と共に参陣。その後,定綱と共に佐竹,蘆名連合勢力に加担し,伊達氏と対立。13年定綱が小浜城から敗走するに至り,条件付きで降伏を申し入れたが政宗は許さず,10月義継はこれに屈服し,服属を斡旋した輝宗に礼を表するため宮森城を訪問。帰り際,輝宗を拉致したため,阿武隈川岸で伊達勢に銃撃され,輝宗と共に死去。没年33歳。位牌は宝樹寺(福島市)。 (伊藤清郎) 出典 朝日日本歴史人物事典:(株)朝日新聞出版朝日日本歴史人物事典について 情報 |
