Nihonbashi
[1] A bridge in Tokyo's Chuo Ward. Built in 1603 during the reorganization of the city of Edo, it spans the Nihonbashi River, which connects the outer moat of Edo Castle with the Sumida River. It is the starting point of five roads, including the Tokaido, and was the origin of the mileposts established along the Gokinokuni Shichido roads. The current bridge was erected in 1911. [2] An area in the northern half of Tokyo's Chuo Ward. Formerly Nihonbashi Ward, one of Tokyo City's 15 wards. Located in the center of the capital, it was the center of Edo's prosperity as a commercial and transportation hub since the Edo period. It remains a financial and commercial hub today. [3] A full-length novel by Izumi Kyoka. Published in 1914. A love triangle unfolds between Kiyoha, a geisha from Nihonbashi, Kuzuki, a medical scientist, and Otaka, Kiyoha's friend. Nipponbashi

This bridge spans the Dotonbori River in Chuo Ward, Osaka City. From the south end to the west is the entertainment district of Dotonbori.

[一] 東京都中央区にある橋。慶長八年(一六〇三)、江戸の町割に際し創設されたもので、江戸城外濠と隅田川を結ぶ日本橋川にかかる。東海道など五街道の起点であり、五畿七道に設けられた一里塚の元となったところで、現在も橋の中央鉄塔に日本国道路元標がある。現在の橋は明治四四年(一九一一)架設。[二] 東京都中央区の北半部の地区。もと東京市一五区の一つ日本橋区。都の中央部を占め、江戸時代以来商業・交通の中枢として、江戸繁栄の中心となったところ。現在も金融・商業の中枢地。[三] 長編小説。泉鏡花作。大正三年(一九一四)刊。日本橋の芸者清葉・医学士葛木・清葉の朋輩お孝の三角関係の絡み合いのなかに愛欲図が展開する。[四] ⇒にっぽんばし(日本橋)
