[1] A bridge in Tokyo's Chuo Ward. Built in 1603 during the reorganization of the city of Edo, it spans the Nihonbashi River, which connects the outer moat of Edo Castle with the Sumida River. It is the starting point of five roads, including the Tokaido, and was the origin of the mileposts established along the Gokinokuni Shichido roads. The current bridge was erected in 1911.
